We understand the world through symbols, or semiotics. We are taught to define what we see in in terms of shapes and patterns, and if what we are looking at does not at first makes sense, then we fill in the gaps with what we know in an attempt to decipher these symbols. Symbols are abstractions to which we affix meaning, when those meanings are unfamiliar, we create our own. We create art.
Did you spot the symbolic Italian flag?
