Washington, D.C., June 2015.
This was an interesting challenge because of the lighting and relative differential in tones. The man has rich, chocolate skin and was in a heavily shadowed area. In contrast, the advert was all white and sunlit. I tried a few different means of balancing the exposure in editing, and settled on dodging the highlights on his face to preserve as much of the original lighting as possible. I also did a complete balancing of the exposure, but lost the idea of shadows that I liked.
Maybe I’ll show both and describe it more on our Just Art blog.
