Metro Sign Paris Marble Arch 2_MPHIX

    1. I know what you mean. Not much of it survives in Paris either. After the Art Nouveau fever that gripped this city, transforming all the Metro stations into beautiful works of art, most of it was torn down and destroyed. These odd few Metro signs are some of the last vestiges of that era, and yeah, it is a crying shame. Seeing these gorgeous utilitarian sculptures put a little bounce back in my step though. 🙂

  1. For art nouveau there’s a few in Gore, but NZ’s Napier was levelled by a quake back in that period and is now a monument to it. Or was that Deco? (Bugger … I get ’em mixed, but they’d have no problems filming Poirot in Napier.)

    1. NZ Poirot, that would be interesting. I recently got into watching reruns of Agatha Christie’s Marple. Good stuff, didn’t quite manage to view the final series remade starring Julia Mackenzie, who replaced the recently late Geraldine McEwan. What made it somewhat of a spooky experience is that I began watching the Geraldine McEwan remake of the series just weeks before she died, after wondering as I watched whether she was still with us or not. She made a good Marple…
