Extra, extra to me implies enhancing my shots so that they become something more than they were originally. A work of art is never quite finished, there is always a little more processing you can do to any shot to give it something extra.

Sort of makes the land feel insignificant, doesn’t it?

Yes. I like that feeling of expanse, it takes my breath away and makes everything seem a little trivial.

Wow, that is stunning. I’m against doing anything extra to a photo after it’s been taken (I think I’m a purist), maybe because I’ve seen so many photos that have been photoshopped to hell, but you’ve done this beautifully. It was already there in the photographer and the photo, and you’ve just added extra impact.

What a wonderful complement, thank you! I like good clean photos normally, prefer them, but it’s such good fun to play around with the contrast and tone sometimes just to give a shot a bit of magical umph! š
Nice to hear from you Ms.Furballs, hope all is well.

All your shots have magical umph… I’m staring at La Granada right now and I think I understand the difference now… Your photos are umphed, but you don’t overdo it. You add that bit extra to make it stand out further and then you leave it alone. Anyway, there’s only so much credit you can give a programme… I don’t think it’s possible to take a bad photo and make it better with an editing programme, I think the content has to already be there. What programme do you use? Sorry if none of this made sense, I’m tired!

Actually, truth be told I don’t edit any of my shots if I can help it, I’m just very lucky to have the camera that I have. This particular shot is slightly tweaked. I think it’s obvious when I have tweaked shots (my inner purist is squirming), although essentially what it comes down to is the final result and whether people like what you do. I like what I do, so anything else is a bonus I guess! š
I was using iPhoto on my Mac with it’s simple editing tools, but now I use Picasa, especially good for HDR effects, and free. But like you say, it comes down to having taken a good shot to begin with I think, because no amount of tweaking can rescue a bad shot in my mind.
Thank you for taking the time to wade through my shots, despite your tiredness. I really appreciate you and your comments. Did you see I featured you on my other blog The Hat Rack? š

I saw the notification but I’m still trying to catch up with all the posts I’ve missed… It feels like cheating to jump from one of your blogs to another without having properly looked at the first! Soon the weekend and more time to look and comment š
